Take a short trip and visit the largest undammed falls in Montana. Located between Libby and Troy, the magnificent Kootenai Falls are just a few minutes drive from the Country Inn. The calm Kootenai river gathers momentum before the falls, surging through China Rapids and then over Kootenai Falls, dropping 90 feet in less than a mile, with the main falls dropping 30 feet.
The Kootenai Falls can be accessed by a short half-mile hike from the parking area off of Hwy 2, which also features a picnic area and restrooms. The trail and viewing area have no guide rails or paved paths next to the river, giving visitors a natural view of the area. The falls can be viewed from the southern edge or you can cross over the Swinging Bridge which brings you to the north side for a closer view of the falls.
